The Best Hip Hop Album of April 2011 Fat Boy Fresh Vol 1 by Big Pooh

When I ask my friends to name their top female rock singers they always name Pat Benatar, Stevie Nicks, Janis Joplin, Tina Tuner and maybe also bands like Heart or even the Pointer Sisters. While there is nothing to say against these nominees I am all out for presenting you upcoming and recent talent. Before reading on, close your eyes and think of the first two or three female rock singers that have emerged through the past decade. What do you come up with?

Since the 1930s and the 1940s, superheroes have provided comic book aficionados with a prototype of the all-American hero, who, via superhuman powers, protects the public from all danger and harm. These same comic book readers are all grown up today, when events occurring around the world make all of us wish for real-life superheroes to come along and save the day, making everything safe again for all those that live here. One of the most popular reasons the appeal of superheroes remains a constant in our society is simply because everyone can identify with them.

To Be Perfectly Frank

With that said, I am going to have to go with another East Coast artist for this month's choice of best hip-hop album of 2011 and I am going to chalk it up to a resurgence of outstanding rappers from the East and the fact that the West has simply gotten lazy with the beats and rhymes. Just the cycle of things I suppose.

The Best Hip Hop Album of March 2011 Rhythmatic Eternal King Supreme by Reks

The best choice you can make is selecting a karaoke machine that is designed for the entire family! Not only will this be a better product, you can join in on the fun too! Karaoke machines give people the opportunity to keep the social gatherings and parties at home. They are usually a few hundred dollars, but can make your party a success. Another type of karaoke system is one where it has to be connected to a television.

A bass guitar is primarily a four stringed instrument that produces sound, usually through amplification, by either being picked, slapped, or most commonly plucked. When people think of a bass guitar most often the image they get in their mind is a longer four stringed version of a guitar. However, that is an all to common fallacy, in fact there is a large number of types of basses out there each with their own unique feature.

Reading scripts can be a great way for aspiring writers to get a good sense of story and character. Providing analyses of other writer's scripts can help and reader know what studios and production companies are looking for in scripts, which can only serve to strengthen their own projects. To earn extra money on the side of assistant duties, I frequently dove into script reading for various production companies and agencies.

First Listen: Lady Gaga, Hair

Lady Gaga has released another single from her still unreleased album Born This Way in order to generate hype for her album’s release. Last night I had the misfortune of seeing Priest at the movies and I say that because everything I had seen to promote the film led me to believe that it was going to be an entertaining sci-fi action film. What it really turned out to be was an extremely boring, slow-paced snoozefest that had absolutely NOTHING resembling entertainment to offer. I can’t say that Priest was the worst movie I’ve ever seen but I can honestly say that it’s not a movie that I needed at all to see … or will ever want to sit thru again.

Essentially, everything is wrong with his movie … just all of it. The worst part, tho, had to be the writing. The lines that the actors had to deliver was just so terrible I had to keep myself from laughing out loud thruout the entire movie. The second worst part was the acting. Cam Giganet was such a joke, I couldn’t take anything he did in this movie seriously. Paul Bettany, the star, was OK but even he struggled … the movie is so bad that he really didn’t have anything to work with. For a vampire film, Priest was not scary or even tense. For an action film, the fight scenes were pretty much nonexistent. For a sci-fi film, the FX were just lame. It really sucks when you see a movie that you think is going to be good and all you get is boring drivel. I am familiar with the Priest graphic novel and I have to say, this film does that story a huge disservice. I cannot recommend that anyone waste their time with this film. If you are curious, wait til it comes out on Netflix or cable so you can watch it for free. At least then, the only thing you have to lose is your time.

iTunes Media Player Advantages Part 1

Post rock is one of music's more enigmatic genres. Defining itself by what it's not (rock) gives little clue as to what it is. Ironically, given that the phrase 'post rock' literally translates to 'after rock', it is in fact a sub-genre of rock music, something that is immediately obvious to anyone who hears it.

A few weeks ago, I finally finished reading the final book of The Hunger Games trilogy … Mockingjay. Because David and I were traveling and then a host of other things distracted me, I never got the chance to blog about the book. Now that all of the tributes have been cast for the upcoming Hunger Games film, I’m really getting anxious to see the story brought to life on the big screen. Read on for some of my (possibly spoilery) thoughts on the final book of the Hunger Games trilogy.

To be honest, I kinda had a feeling that the final book was not going to end on a happy note. Considering the way that Catching Fire ended, it was plainly obvious that the final book was going to be war-centric. I can understand why some fans feel that Mockingjay is the worst of the 3 books but I honestly loved it … and felt that, in the end, the trilogy stands as an excellent series of books. My guess is that the folks who do not care for Mockingjay take great issue with the fact that the book did not end happily. I can think of one death in particular that prolly angered a great many fans. Because that death took such an innocent character, it makes sense that there would be anger. Mockingjay makes the excellent point, tho, that War is Hell. Death can strike anyone … and even the people who you thought were the good guys sometimes do bad things. I can only judge Mockingjay in context with the two previous books … and as a trilogy, I loved The Hunger Games. I’m not going to lie tho … I did have strong feelings when I finished the book. I was obviously sad and angry … but any book that can make me feel that way has to be a damn good book. I am really curious to see how these tales will be told on the big screen. The first film will really give us a good idea of how well the books will be represented on the screen.

I’m curious … can those of you who have strong feelings — either good or bad — about the final book chime in? I’d love to hear what other people think of the book.

It’s Friday and time for the weekend. My dear friend Monique is visiting LA this weekend from Hong Kong and we are going with my friend Eileen to see Prince at The Forum. Yes, I know … more Prince? Bahati Gay Death Penalty

This is not good, Uganda.

While we were expecting to hear that the death penalty had been stripped from the anti-homosexuality bill in at least a small step in the right direction, we're hearing that that isn't the case anymore:

According to the report, MP David Bahati, author of the legislation that was first introduced in October 2009, reportedly told the committee that the death penalty could be stripped from the bill. The committee, however, decided to keep the death penalty, by rewording the provision to match the current penal code making "aggravated defilement" punishable by death.

The Ugandan Parliament's Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee will recommend the version of the Anti-Homosexuality bill that retains the death penalty for acts of "aggravated homosexuality."

The committee's report does remove some provisions, but adds criminal penalties for "conducting a marriage ceremony between persons of the same sex."

The bill has been publicly condemned by our State Department and other countries abroad. And of course, we don't support it either. Even if the harshest punishments are removed, the bill itself still remains discriminatory.

Bahati argues that everything is done with the Democratic process, so there can't be anything wrong with it.

Making people fear that their human rights could be viewed as illegal and punishable by death seems like there is everything wrong with it.

We hope there are changes coming for Uganda. They deserve to be whoever they were born to be.

With less than 10 eps left until The Oprah Winfrey Show goes off the air for good, rumor and speculation is running rampant as to who the final guests will be. According to a new report, that MUST be taken with a grain of salt as there is NO confirmation whatsoever, Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith are said to be Oprah‘s chosen final guests. IMHO, Oprah could’ve gotten someone bigger (anyone at all) but if this report turns out to be true, Will and Jada will have the distinction of being the last guests ever on The Oprah Show.

There has been much speculation over who will be given the honour of being Oprah Winfrey’s last ever guest as her show comes to a close after 25 years. And if recent reports are to be believed, the ‘chosen ones’ to appear on the May 25 show are going to be Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith. Fans and media reports have been trying to guess who will make the last entrance on the talk show titan’s stage but The Daily reports it will be the Smiths. Options had included Oprah’s long term boyfriend Stedman Graham, couch-jumper Tom Cruise, Jennifer Aniston, Gabrielle Giffords or her protégé Dr Phil McGraw. Smith and his wife and children have been on Oprah’s show many times in the past. Karate Kid star Jaden and Whip My Hair singer Willow have previously joined their parents on the famous couch. With only ten shows left, fans are excited to see who will be on the final episodes. Two of the hours will reportedly be dedicated to A Million Little Pieces author James Frey.

HMMM … this is an interesting report … I’m not sure I totally believe it but the Smiths are as plausible as any other guest. I was under the impression that the last episode ever of The Oprah Winfrey Show would feature no guests at all … just Oprah and her audience. There isn’t much time left until the final episode of Oprah airs and then is gone forever. Do you think Will and Jada Smith will be the final guests? If you could pick, who would YOU like to see as the final guest ever on The Oprah Winfrey Show?

Andrew Gold Lyrics Some Of The More Notable In His Catalogue

Gilbert O'Sullivan has been largely ignored by most pop music critics; his early image perhaps alienating a sizable portion of them with its contrived, down-at-heel urchin look - not a fashion statement that has stood the test of time. What has stood the test of time in my view is the quality of some of his songwriting, along with the clean and natural vocal style he employed. Whilst he regularly managed to construct and carry a strong melody, it is the lyrics to some of his early work that I find fascinating.

Electro Acoustic Guitars

The original 22 steps on how to do the electric slide were created by its choreographer, Ric Silver, in 1976. It's not very complicated but a lot of simplified steps are now being taught if you try searching for other dance websites. The electric slide is quite famous in many countries. This is probably because the steps on how to do the electric slide dance are fairly easy to remember and don't hinder our enthusiasm to continually learn while enjoying it at the same time.

Electric Slide Songs

Electro-acoustic guitars work acoustically in exactly the same way as a standard acoustic guitar, meaning the main factors in their individual sound will be the size, shape and material of the body and neck. They are constructed with the same basic materials that all models use: wood, steel and very occasionally composite materials. It depends on the manufacturer and brand, but the same basic shape and production methods are used to put these finely crafted pieces together.

This morning, al-Qaida took to militant websites to confirm to their followers that Osama Bin Laden is dead and in fact died at the hands of courageous Americans on Sunday.

Well, courageous to us. As you can imagine, they don't think too highly of us right now.

The statement released by Osama's duputies wished their "holy" leader be blessed by God and vowed retaliation on America for his death. Their statement reads:

"The blood of the holy warrior sheik, Osama bin Laden, God bless him, is too precious to us and to all Muslims to go in vain. We will remain, God willing, a curse chasing the Americans and their agents, following them outside and inside their countries.

Soon, God willing, their happiness will turn to sadness, their blood will be mingled with their tears."

Uh-huh. That's what you think. In the words of Hillary Clinton, "You cannot defeat us." We're already putting the kibosh on one of your attacks right now!

Turns out, shortly after the al-Qaida released their confirmation, materials obtained by the Navy SEALs who killed the al-Qaida leader revealed that the terrorists were planning on derailing an American train on the upcoming 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks. One idea outlined in handwritten notes, presumed to be from February 2010, was to "tamper with an unspecified U.S. rail track so that a train would fall off the track at a valley or a bridge."

Consider that plan DONEZO!

Electric Slide

I have picked out, in my opinion, the 5 Best Techno Songs from 1995 to 1999. I enjoy a wide variety of electronic music, so some of these picks might be better classified as Rave, Electronic Dance, Trance, Eurodance, Electronica or maybe even House. Genres are getting a little too specific anyway, and there are way too many different classifications. So, if the song was at least partly synthetic, and had a good enough beat to dance to it, then it made my list. Techno songs usually have several different mixes of the same song, so if there is a specific version that I like it will be noted after the song title.

Cultivating Creativity Part II

When learning how to draw a face you need to understand the structure, proportions and the various parts that make up that face. Before I offer you some kind of guideline for the structure, proportions and the various parts of the face, I need to make it clear, that whilst it is really important to get a good understanding of the components that make up the face, it is not an exact science by any means. If you have ever researched the topic you'll know what I mean, you'll find there is a lot of conflicting information and many offering some kind of proof to back up their own particular theory. I am sure no one is deliberately trying to mislead us of course; I believe it is because humans are very diverse beings and there are just so many variables to take into account.

The Lennon Inspired Paul McCartney Lyrics

To learn the guitar, one must know its roots and origin. Guitar history dictates that this piece of musical instrument was developed in the 12th century. Before, it was simply described as any instrument that was plucked or strummed, characterized by a long fretted neck with a flat soundboard. All guitars of those times were made of wood and did not have a universal form.

Vintage Guitar Amps Versus Modern Guitar Amps

As I was sitting in my office in Miami, me and several DJs were having a very intense discussion as to what were the top 25 dirty south songs of the decade. Even though we all know that choosing your favorite rap songs is solely based on one's opinion. I decided to take a crack at it to see how my picks would line up with the rest. But the criteria that I used to make my picks were that the songs had to be club bangers. I think that you will be very surprised as to what my picks are.

Wedding Music Guide: How To Hire Music Entertainment

I have picked out, in my opinion, the 5 Best Techno Songs from 1990 to1995.

Learn Guitar 101 Digging Deeper On Guitar Basics

Some individuals believe in fate, while others might place more belief in divine intervention, on Venice Beach, in Venice, California in 1965, two men, James Morrison and Ray Manzarek, were in the right place at the right time when it came to the formation of The Doors. Both men were Alumni of UCLA, and were familiar with one another, but it wasn't until Morrison said that he was writing songs, and after singing "Moonlight Drive", Manzarek insinuated that they start collaborating.

White iPhone 4 Selling Well

The long-awaited white version of the hugely popular iPhone 4 was released yesterday in 27 countries.

Apparently it's selling wellpretty well… amazingly well:

Initial reports from Asia indicated it had sold out in Hong Kong and Beijing within hours of going on sale yesterday.

Wow!

We're not very surprised by this, Apple products always sell like hot cakes! (if hot cakes sell millions of units and make phone calls… kind of a ridiculous phrase)

Cue every news outlet reporting on it to say that it's "white hot," right??

Congrats, Steve!

Blake and Reba Do Charity

First they hosted this year's ACM awards together, now the two are bonding again over a less happy event: the recent tornado disasters.

Blake Shelton and Reba McEntire are putting on a benefit concert to help those affected by the recent string of horrible storms and tornados. It's called the Tornado Relief Concert and it'll be at the Choctaw Even Center in Durant, Oklahoma on May 26th.

Here's what McEntire had to say:

"A lot of people lost a great deal in this disaster and it's particularly close to us because we both consider Oklahoma home. We wanted to do something and let the people in Oklahoma know that we love them and we're praying for them during this difficult tragedy."

Such a good cause, you guys!

If you're in the area and can spare the money and time, definitely go check out the show! So many people need your help!

Before it was Britney Spears vs. Christina Aguilera, it was Tiffany vs. Debbie Gibson. Back in the late 80′s, Tiffany and Debbie battled it out for the hearts, minds and souls of pop fans as the dueling teen pop stars competed for pop supremacy. This Summer, after All This Time of wasted Electric Youth, Tiffany and Debbie Gibson will lay down their arms and perform TOGETHER for the first time ever!

Live Nation is pleased to present Debbie Gibson and Tiffany, together for the very first time, at the NYCB Theatre at Westbury on July 29 at 8 pm. Tickets are $69.50, $39.50 and $29.50 and go on sale this Friday, April 22 at 10 a.m. Tickets are available at www.livenation.com, charge by phone at 800-745-3000 or at the Westbury box office (Box Office opens at Noon). Event, date and time are subject to change. Tickets are subject to applicable service charges. For membership information, visit www.westburymembership.com

Merrick’s Debbie Gibson rose to fame while still in high school. Her debut single, “Only In My Dreams” was released in the summer of 1987 and was followed in the fall by “Shake Your Love.” Out of the Blue her debut album was released that fall and by the spring of 1988, the title track had climbed to number three on the charts. With the release of her fourth single, “Foolish Beat,” Debbie Gibson became the youngest artist to write, produce and perform a #1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. ”Lost in Your Eyes,” the first single from her sophomore effort, Electric Youth became her biggest hit, staying at number one for three weeks. In addition to her recording career, Debbie Gibson has starred on Broadway in “Les Miserables” and “Beauty and the Beast.” She starred in London in the West End production of “Grease” and toured nationally in “Grease,” “Funny Girl,” and appeared at the Paper Mill Playhouse in “Gypsy.” More recently she was seen in her second SyFy film “Mega Python vs. Gatorid” with Tiffany as her co-star.

TIFFANY is back! …to her roots. The dynamic voice of the 80s has returned to where it all started for her, country music and the Nashville music scene. Now a critically praised songwriter, Tiffany is set to capture your hearts again…with her new album of country/rock tunes! Tiffany began her career at the age of 13 when she signed her first recording contract with MCA. The self-titled debut album was released in 1987 and eventually went quadruple platinum. The innovative “Mall Tour” that followed proved to be the signature for Tiffany’s early career and was very effective in targeting her core audience of young teens making Tiffany the youngest female artist to debut at number one on the Billboard charts. Tiffany produced three top ten hits, two of which were national and international #1 pop singles “Could’ve Been” and the celebrated “I Think We’re Alone Now.” The soon-to-be teen pop phenomenon, New Kids on the Block, got their big break as the opening act for her world tour. Tiffany released her second album, Hold An Old Friend’s Hand, which went double platinum and featured the top ten hit “All This Time.”

I would just DIE to see these two perform together. It’s unclear if this show is a one-off performance or if they are planning to hit the road together but if New Kids on the Block can go on tour with Backstreet Boys, then I don’t see why Tiffany and Debbie can’t do the same. In about 30 years, I full expect Britney and Xtina to do this very same thing … but for now, I’d totally settle for Tiff and Deb :D

How to Distribute Your Music Online

The Beatles are well-documented; little is left to note about them. Mention of their name recalls specific imagery and memories for many, and it is very possible that they were the most important group to emerge from the rock and roll movement. In the 1960's, Beatlemania swept multiple nations and captured the attention and consciousness of an entire generation.

Things to Take Note Of When Buying Sonic Producer

When musicians talk about "jamming" together, it usually means that a bunch of players get together with their instruments and talents and just start playing to see what happens. These musicians may or may not have ever played together before. Bands like The Grateful Dead and Pearl Jam have taken the concept of the musical jam to new heights with long solos that go wherever the players feel like taking them at the moment. But these bands certainly can't be credited with inventing jam music. Jam music has been around for a long time and even rockabilly music has been highly influenced by the jam phenomenon.

Movie Review: Water For Elephants

For months I’ve been talking about the big screen adaptation of the novel Water for Elephants and this weekend the film finally opened in theaters. Yesterday was pretty much a travel day for David and me so it wasn’t really all that exciting. After a quick Easter Egg hunt in the front yard of David’s parent’s home, we had to get our butts to the airport for our flight back to LA. Because we did have one stop on our journey, we couldn’t get home as quickly as we would’ve liked … but our layover in Cincinnati, OH did afford us a very nice Easter brunch surprise.

We found an Outback Steakhouse in the airport in Cincinnati and I was able to stuff my fave partake of a delicious plate of Aussie Cheese Fries (pronounced Aussie Chayze Froys) midway thru our journey home. Trust me … it helped make the day go by so much faster :)

We did get home early enough in the day here in LA so that we could go out for a bit … we ended up seeing a movie at the ArcLight (review forthcoming). As much fun as we had in NYC and CT all week long, nothing beats being home, sweet, home here in SoCal :)

Lady Gaga Apologizes for Retarded Rant

Earlier this week an interview in NME magazine made the singer face the criticisms coming her way. Now Lady Gaga apologizes for her rant, especially for saying “that’s retarded.” And now she is being praised! The article confronted her about being a Madonna rip-off and for selling out, and that is when you see that she got irritated and fought back. Now, however, what she is most upset about are the “thoughtless” words she said. And in a very classy move, almost instantly she made a heartfelt public apology. Check out more of the interview that Lady Gaga is apologizing for at Starpulse. But while you are at it, don’t miss these other headlines on some great sites! The Ancient Persian Ring ((1000 B.C.)(Amiash Culture))

Prelude: High up in the Andes in the Valley of Canipaco, of Peru, from what is known, as the House of Falcon, came the Hanan Chanka era, which lasted for about 1500-years. It was a race of warriors that drank the blood of their enemy, from their skull caps. From this line came two gods, great warriors: Ancovilca, whom had the teeth of the lion, and Uscavilca, who had the thumbs of a great giant.

Guitarist Profile The Mad Professor: Devin Townsend

When Mission: Impossible hit the big screen in 1996, it was a huge success, but I was left thinking that the script writers had missed some of the heart of the original television series. Tom Cruise bounds from each life-threatening situation with consummate skill and panache, with his colleagues typically unaware of proceedings or relegated to watch from the safety of a parked van.

Get Better Beats by Using Premium Sound Equipment

Music is a gift of expression. It allows one to share their inner most thoughts and feelings through a rhythmic collection of melodies and beats accompanied by or apart from words. Music is liberating both to the composer and the listener in the sense that it can work as a sort of therapy and evokes feelings of hurt, despair, anger, happiness or even empowerment allowing the exploration of feelings one may not have known even existed.

A couple of weeks ago Charlie Sheen was in an ad for car company, Fiat, and they made fun of the concept of him being under house arrest. Now he has collaborated with Dutch beer company, Bavaria Beer, for its new ad campaign, and he is actually the perfect person for the role. The ad follows Charlie from the moment he walks out of rehab, and the concept is seriously funny, making a parody of Charlie’s messed up past. Check out the new ad….

I don’t want to give too much away so that you can watch the ad’s story, but I am liking Charlie poking fun at himself in these recent ad campaigns. He isn’t everyone’s favorite guy, but you have to give him credit for trying hard to resurrect his career. He is starring in the upcoming Anger Management series, and he is doing a whole lot of ads – maybe too many ads, but still..

Check out the ad below and have a bit of a laugh for your Monday morning. What do you think of how Charlie Sheen is capitalizing on his troubled past?

Sorry Marvel fans! You're favorite jolly angry green giant won't be roid ragin' in his own movie anytime soon.

Despite audiences' favorable reaction to the Hulk in Marvel's upcoming release, The Avengers, the studio is not giving him any more love.

Other than appearing in The Avengers 2, the Hulk will NOT be getting another solo outing in the multiplex.

When asked if the suits in charge of the big green hero's fate would be giving him another shot, Marvel Studios president, Kevin Feige, told sources:

"Well, no. This was the other shot. Right? I mean, this was the third appearance of Hulk and everything that we had and were going for, we put in to Hulk's appearance in "Avengers." So, I love that people are saying that and are feeling that way about Hulk, but mission accomplished at this point. And the way we go forward, we'll see. But it was a long road to get to this point. Although, I will say, after the screening, I heard various arguments over who was their favorite. Which is my favorite thing: Arguing what was the favorite moment or character. And the fact that so many of them are saying Hulk feels very, very good. Where we go next, we'll see. But we'll be very careful about it and deliberate -- as we were in how we wanted to bring him back in "Avengers." "

But WAIT! What was that "we'll see" comment?

If we learned anything from our childhood, it's that an adult saying, "We'll see," is really just a gently way of saying, "No way."

We would be willing to bet that Hollywood will give The Incredible Hulk another chance to bring in the bucks at the box office in the future, but it sounds like audiences will be waiting a long time for that to happen.
